Introduction

Hello, I had a really bad text here that I can't read anymore.. please can someone write a good text for this place? You need the latest Spring release, that is the "engine" some content has been packaged with it but you should check out the many other content packages (the units you command and the worlds you play on) that are available. As a new player you should also read up on the things under "Playing Spring". Spring is still in "Beta" and it has a very steep learning curve.

If you like to involve yourself in the development process (code and/or content) then take a look at the bottem of this page, you can hack on the Spring engine, the tools, this site, artificial intelligence, script units or missions or put your love into refining unit textures, making sound effects, maps or whatever matches your skill set and interests.

Well, guess what.. I came to the conclusion that I did not have enough.

Spring has two new domains!
springrts.com and springrts.org

Tobi takes on the lead developer role.
Tobi is going to take us to to 1.0!
We thank Yaha for his work on the 0.74 releases.

I think three items (total of 6) for the news section is right.
More would make it a wall of text and two is a little slim to get a good idea of recent developments.
But it's open for discussion..? Two might actualy be better now that I'm seeing the result of my typing work.

  Participate

We are a buch of people from around the world - love RTS gaming - we develop Spring because we like to - we do this mostly on an "Open Source" basis so everybody can help develop the code and content that we collectivly play. - The developemnt process is split in code and content development both are heavely interlinked so the distinction is not that hard, the main diffrence is that you need other tools and skills.

 Content

Unit developement
Work on the units you can build and command, you need modeling, animation, texturing and scripting skills to make fully functional units.
Mapping
Mapping is making the worlds where battles can be fought, it's also possible to make missions.
Writing
We need documentation, story-lines, reviews, translations for this site and just generaly nice people to build our communety on.

 Code

Engine development
The Spring engine is the main dish and it needs a lot of work, if you know C++ take a look at it.
Tool development
Lobby and others. We have a few app's that are used for unit and map developement and also these need work.
Artificial Inteligence
Generaly we can still beat the AI's..
